The orangutans on Sumatra are facing extinction as international companies destroy the rainforest in the hunt for tropical timber and plantation land.
Orangutan coffee comes from smallholder families who cultivate their coffee gardens organically. This cultivation method preserves the natural balance. The farmers commit to protecting the rainforest and its animals and plants. In return, they receive a premium of €0.50 per kilogram of green coffee. An additional €0.50 goes to the Sumatran Orangutan Conservation Program.
