Story
In 2001, Walter traveled to Cuba to get involved in trade withto make tobacco smart. He wwandered through tobacco plantations, smoked thick cigars and made the flight homealso a detour via Brazil.
And! – suddenly he stumbled upon a coffee plantation by chance, which he at least as interesting as the tobacco fields 😊
The coffee virus jumped onto his tongue, heart and head. With this infection he returned to “good old” Austria and was surprised, whow little role high-quality coffee played here.
The Italia Amore, which Walter always shared with his Silvie, was another step towards perfecting his love of coffee. Why was the coffee at the first motorway station always better than iin good Austria?
The answer was soon found – Visits to traditional roasteries and countless Italian coffee bars told us what (almost) everyone knows today – delicious roasting, the right grind, the best portafilter machine, and the right preparation by trained baristas.
The next trips were to Hamburg and Trieste. There, the green coffee traders inspired us with their knowledge and led us in amazement into the Variety of green coffee varieties.
Back in Neumarkt in 2002, a used roaster was purchased and Walter got started. We were the entrepreneurs of the roasting industry – in other words, the very first of today’s “small roaster” scene.
